Building Connection Through Relational Agility Workshop, Sep 20th, 2025

Discover the Core Practices of Relational Agility in this one-day, interactive workshop with Mary Scholl and Iván Suazo. Together, we’ll explore how to stay present, adaptable, and compassionate in our interactions so that we can build trust, navigate challenges, and strengthen connection.

Through mindfulness, dialogue, and practical tools, you will learn how to:

• Communicate with empathy and honesty
• Hold space with presence and care
• Repair and renew relationships after harm
• Build stronger, more resilient communities

Mary and Iván bring decades of international experience in education, leadership, and community-building. Their approach blends social-emotional learning, mindfulness, and the principles of Nonviolent Communication to create powerful learning experiences.

This workshop is free and open to all, with a focus on fostering justice, healing, and resilience through relationships.

Every Child Matters, Sep 30th, 2025

        Orange Shirt Day / National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Join the shíshálh Nation in recognizing, honouring, and supporting Survivors of residential schools, and commemorating the children who attended the Sechelt Residential School.

Each year, the Nation hosts a powerful day of remembrance that has included ceremonies, a Walk for Reconciliation, and exhibits at the tems swiya Museum.

Stay tuned for the 2025 schedule of events, details will be available on the shíshálh Nation website.
We encourage everyone to take time to reflect, wear orange, and participate in local events that honour this day and support the path toward reconciliation.

Restorative Justice Training: Understanding Trauma, Oct 1st, 2025

Wednesday, October 1st

How do we respond to trauma with empathy and care? In this evening workshop, Diane Marshall will guide participants through insights from The Body Keeps the Score by Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, focusing on practical approaches to support others and ourselves.

This session will focus on:

• Creating safe environments for those who have experienced trauma
• Becoming a “non-anxious presence” in times of distress
• Practicing compassionate listening and self-awareness
• Understanding and preventing compassion fatigue

Whether you are a volunteer, professional, or community member, this training will offer practical tools to help you support others and yourself with care and balance.

Experience the Blanket Exercise Gibsons Public Library, Oct 2nd, 2025

Facilitators Nancy and John Denham will guide this powerful, participatory experience that deepens understanding of the history and ongoing impacts of colonization on the land we now call British Columbia and Canada.

Through this powerful exercise, you will:

• Explore the nation-to-nation relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Canada.
• Learn how this relationship has been disrupted over the years.
• Reflect on how each of us can be part of the path toward reconciliation.

Fall Foundational Training: Dialogue Circle & Community Justice
Nov 5, 8, 15, and 22, 2025

Intro Session: Wednesday, Nov 5, 6:30 – 9:00 pm
Full Days: Saturdays, Nov 8, 15 & 22, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm
Mission Point House, Davis Bay

This four-part series, led by Nancy Denham and Andrea Barale, introduces the principles and practices of restorative justice and peacemaking circles. Participants will gain hands-on experience in dialogue circles and learn how these practices apply across workplaces, schools, communities, and personal life.

You will:
• Learn the principles and practices of restorative justice
• Experience the power of dialogue circles to navigate conflict
• Build skills to hold space for healing and stronger relationships
• Explore how these practices apply in workplaces, schools, communities, and personal life

After completing this training, participants are welcome to begin volunteering with us and supporting restorative justice work on the Sunshine Coast.

If you already pre-registered, you do not need to register again — the dates and venue are now finalized. For all others, space is limited and registration is required

October Volunteer In-Service: Indigenous Lens Training

Our October Volunteer In-Service will be led by Dale Sankey, who will guide us through an Indigenous Lens Training. Together, we’ll explore perspectives and practices that deepen our understanding of Indigenous worldviews and strengthen our work in community.
